EventCAT supports communication and collaboration with real-time AI translation solutions at Gachon University 2025 Global Startup Camp (GCSC)
The 2025 Global University Student Startup Camp (GCSC) was held at Gachon University in Korea from January 8th to 13th. It was a promising event where 80 university students from Korea and Japan worked to solve creative ideas aimed at addressing social problems in East Asia. This camp is a global event co-hosted by Gachon University and Hitotsubashi University in Japan, and sponsored by Cocone One and Shinhan Finance, to seek innovative solutions to common challenges in East Asia, such as population issues and climate change.
Breaking Down Language Barriers and Connecting Ideas

At this camp, XL8's EventCAT played a key role in lecturing and mentoring Korean-Japanese students and speakers as an AI-based real-time translation subtitling solution. Various programs, including mentoring sessions between mentors and students, discussions from participants, and major discussions, provided two-way real-time translation between Korean and Japanese, supporting smooth communication and collaboration. In particular, in the lecture given by Professor Naohiro Shichijo of Hitotsubashi University and Professor Lisa Son of Columbia Bernard College, real-time subtitling of English lectures into Korean and Japanese helped participants understand and communicate key content without the need for traditional language interpretation.

“While discussing for the Korea-Japan international event, I had many discussions about communication, but the XL8 team visited the school to explain the service, and the translation quality was good, so we decided to adopt EventCAT. I was able to receive mentoring, and Korean and Japanese students were able to receive mentoring from Korean and Japanese mentors in their preferred language, either Korean or Japanese. Overall, I was satisfied with the translation quality, and I think it was a successful example of global collaboration because the main communication was well conveyed.” — Lee Min Seop, Professor at Gachon University Startup College
Adopting the Incurable of Global Education with AI Translation Technology

The event was held at Gachon Cocone School, a startup college at Gachon University founded in 2022, which trains global expertise through an immersive entrepreneurship system and entrepreneurship education. Students who proposed their startup ideas in various programs were able to improve their language proficiency and further enhance their collaboration and creativity through real-time multilingual captions provided by EventCAT.
The introduction of real-time AI solutions in programs for global students at a university educational institution is a prime example of the university's attitude toward innovation and inclusiveness in the field of education. In an environment where international exchange is active, and the participation of international students alongside domestic students is involved, EventCAT plays a significant role in creating a rich learning experience for all students, beyond language barriers, through AI technology. EventCAT will continue to expand discussions around communication by breaking language barriers at various events around the world.
